About Us

Tyra Davis, DVM

Dr. Davis was born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana. Following her graduation from New Iberia Senior High School, she attended Southern University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. She continued her education at Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Not long after, Dr. Davis joined the staff at Hammond Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge. Dr. Davis holds a graduate certificate from Louisiana State University in healthcare profession education. In addition to practicing veterinary medicine; she is an Assistant Professor of Animal Sciences at Southern University in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Davis is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Baton Rouge Area Veterinary Medical Association, the National Association of Black Veterinarians, and the Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Davis has a son named London (see picture below). She also has a shepadoodle named Chai-Latte' Sable. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, entertaining, and going to the beach. Dr. Davis is also fond of art and likes to paint.
